Preview: Boars Head Inn Classic at UVA

On Saturday-Sunday, March 29-30, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Boar’s Head Inn Classic at Birdwood Golf Course at UVA. Birdwood, home to the University of Virginia men’s and women’s golf teams is an excellent course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 49 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Division field features 27 golfers, highlighted by five of the top-100 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Bryana Nguyen (Columbia, MD 2014) ranked 18th, Delaney Shah (North Potomac, MD 2016) ranked 25th, Megan Munroe (Raeford, NC 2016) ranked 46th, Adeena Shears (Elizabeth, WV 2016) ranked 72nd, and Megan Cullip (Charlotte, NC 2015) ranked 95th.

The Futures Division field features 22 golfers, highlighted by five of the top-35 players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Sirena Walsh (Chantilly, VA 2016) in 12th position, Alissa Thompson (Parkton, MD 2015) in 18th position, Jaden Harman (Grottoes, VA 2019) in 21st position, Jaime Cassell (Charlotte, NC 2016) and Isabel York (Cincinnati, OH 2017) both tied for 33rd position.

The Boar’s Head Inn Classic brings together players from event brings together players from Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. It should be a great tournament!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
