Recap: Migliaccio wins NC University Classic at UNC

On Sunday, March 9, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the NC University Classic at the UNC Finley Golf Course. The Finley Golf Course, home of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Tar Heels golf teams, was a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field of 81 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event is ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings and is the largest classic tournament of the 2013 season.

In the Bell Division, Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) shot two under par with a score of 70 to place first with a two-day total of 142. Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) shot two over par with a score of 74 and won a scorecard playoff to place second with a two-day total of 146 and Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) shot two over par with a score of 74 to place third with a two-day total of 146.

In the Futures Division, Sirena Walsh (Chantilly, VA 2016) shot seven over par with a score of 79 to place first with a two-day total of 160. Miranda Lassiter (Chesapeake, VA 2016) shot six over par with a score of 78 and won a scorecard playoff to place second with a two-day total of 162 and Mackenzie Battle (Aberdeen, NC 2018) shot 10 over par with a score of 82 to place third with a two-day total of 162.

With their victory’s, Migliaccio and Walsh both received class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall. With their runner-up finishes, Shoomee, Chang, Lassiter, and Battle both received class B exemptions into the Tournament of Champions.

PKBGT returns to action next weekend with the Palmetto Classic @ Cobblestone Park Golf Club in Blythewood, SC. The event brings together players from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
