On Saturday-Sunday, March 8-9, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the NC University Classic at the UNC Finley Golf Course. The Finley Golf Course, home of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Tar Heels golf teams, is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 84 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event is ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings and is the largest classic tournament of the 2013 season.
The Bell Division field features 54 golfers, highlighted by last year’s event champion, Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017), who will be defending her title, and 14 of the top 500 players nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Migliaccio ranked 89th, Bryana Nguyen (Columbia, MD 2014) ranked 129th, Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) 160th, Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) ranked 167th, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 198th, Cecily Overbey (High Point, NC 2014) ranked 280th, Alaina Yeatts (Durham, NC 2014) ranked 283rd, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 324th, Carolyn Markley (Maineville, OH 2015) ranked 326th, Victoria Allred (Pfafftown, NC 2014) ranked 333rd, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 340th, Molly Skapik (Miamisburg, OH 2014) ranked 383rd, Khushboo Thiagaraj (Haymarket, VA 2014) ranked 434th, and Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014) ranked 474th. The field also features 18 players in the field who are ranked inside the top-100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Chang in 3rd position, Migliaccio in 6th position, Kim in 6th position, Lauren Beaudreau (Lemont, IL 2019) in 26th position, Haeley Wotnoskey (Wake Forest, NC 2018) in 34th position, Jessica Spicer and Nguyen in 49th position, Sarah Spicer in 53rd position, Redding in 59th position, Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) in 82nd position, Delaney Shah (North Potomac, MD 2016) in 88th position, Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) and Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017) in 92nd position, Kayla Ward (Raleigh, NC 2018) in 93rd position, Cecily Overbey (High Point, NC 2014) in 99th position, and Yeatts and Grace Yatawara (Salisbury, NC 2016) in 100th position.
The Futures Division field features 30 golfers, highlighted by seven of the top-30 players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) in 2nd position, Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) in 12th position, Mackenzie Battle (Aberdeen, NC 2018) and Jillian Preisach (Fuquay Varina, NC 2019) tied in 15th position, Anna Parramore (Greenwood, SC 2018) in 25th position, Ellis Hunter (Greensboro, NC 2016) in 26th position, and Miranda Lassiter (Chesapeake, VA 2016) in 27th position.
The NC University Classic @ UNC Finley Golf Course brings together players from event brings together players from Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Ontario, Canada.. It should be a great tournament!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
