Update: Schanen leads SC University Classic at Clemson

On Saturday, March 1, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the SC University Classic at The Walker Course at Clemson University. The Walker Course, home of the Clemson University Tigers golf teams, is a great course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 51 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Division, after round one, Payton Schanen (Milton, GA 2015) is leading the field by five strokes at even par with a score of 72. There is a three-way tie for second place between Emily Cox (Lancaster, SC 2017), Victoria Huskey (Greenville, SC 2016), and Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) who all shot five over par each with scores of 77.

In the Futures Division, after round one, Peyton Gillespie (Greenville, SC 2019) is leading the field by three strokes at four par with a score of 76. Not far behind Gillespie, Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) and Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN 2019) are tied for second place at seven strokes over par, each with scores of 79.

Weather for Sunday’s round looks beautiful with temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s. It should be a great day to conclude of the first event of March Mania!
