On Saturday-Sunday, March 1-2, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the SC University Classic at The Walker Course at Clemson University. The Walker Course, home of the Clemson University Tigers golf teams, is a great course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 51 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Bell Division field features 31 golfers, highlighted by last year’s event champion, Anne Taylor Hough (Spartanburg, SC 2015), who will be defending her title, and six of the top 600 players nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Maddie Rose Hamilton (Louisville, KY 2015) ranked 127th, Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) ranked 157th, Hough ranked 223rd, Payton Schanen (Milton, GA 2015) ranked 278th, Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014) ranked 459th, and Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015) ranked 593rd.
The Futures Division field features 20 golfers, highlighted by some of the top performers on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020) in 2nd position, Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) in 3rd position, Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018) in 5th position, Ciaran Carlile (Evans, GA 2015) in 6th position, and Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) in 12th position.
The SC University Classic @ The Walker Course at Clemson University brings together players from Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It should be a great tournament!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
