Recap: Tindal wins Chanticleer Classic

On Sunday, February 9, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Chanticleer Classic at The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University. The Hackler Course, home of the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers men’s and women’s golf teams, is the only university golf course on the Grand Strand and a great course for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field of 28 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Division, Jaelyn Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2015) shot six over par with a score of 78 to place first with a two-day total of 151. LeAnn Domitrovits (Newport, NC 2015) shot 13 over par with a score of 83 and won a scorecard playoff to place second with a two-day total of 167 and Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2017) shot 15 over par with a score of 87 to place third with a two-day total of 167.

In the Futures Division, Ximena Name (Myrtle Beach, SC 2015) shot six over par with a score of 78 to place first with a two-day total of 162. Fiona Hebbel (Myrtle Beach, SC 2016) shot seven over par with a score of 79 to place second with a two-day total of 164 and Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) shot 13 over par with a score of 85 to place third with a two-day total of 168.

With their victory’s, Tindal and Name both received class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall. With their runner-up finishes, Domitrovits and Hebbel both received class B exemptions into the Tournament of Champions.

PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Sunday, February 15-16 with the Rocket Tour PLAYERS @ Chateau Elan Resort (Chateau Course). The Rocket Tour PLAYERS is the first championship event of the 2014 season and brings together players from Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Ontario, Canada. Who will be golden?

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
