Preview: Chanticleer Classic at Coastal Carolina

On Saturday-Sunday, February 8-9, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Chanticleer Classic at The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University. The Hackler Course, home of the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers men’s and women’s golf teams, is the only university golf course on the Grand Strand and a great course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 29 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Division field features 13 golfers, highlighted by last year’s champion, Juliana Sebastian (Columbia, SC 2014), who will be defending her title. Many other great golfers, including: Maddy Mcdanel (Aliquippa, PA 2016), Kathleen Sumner (Charleston, SC 2017), Jaelyn Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2015), and Elizabeth Win (Sylvania, OH 2016), will be challenging the defending champion for her title.

The Futures Division field features 16 golfers, highlighted by some of the top performers on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Jaime Cassell (Charlotte, NC 2016), Felicia Finney (Blythewood, SC 2015), Miranda Lassiter (Chesapeake, VA 2016), and Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016).

The Chanticleer Classic @ The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University brings together players from Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great tournament.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2013 and more than 200 alumni in the collegiate ranks.
