Recap: Curtis, Floyd wins TOURNEY OF CHAMPS

On Sunday, September 21, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS at Dolphin Head Golf Club. The course is a Gary Player design and is a favorite among the Island courses. The event featured a field 17 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Division, Caroline Curtis (Glen Allen, VA 2019) and
Delaney Shah (North Potomac, MD 2016) both shot three over par each with scores of 149. On the second hole of a sudden-death playoff, Curtis made a 12-foot birdie to win the title.

In the Futures Division, Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020) shot even over par with a two-day total of 150 to place first. Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) shot six over par with a two-day total of 151 to place second and Taylor Lance (Travelers Rest, SC 2015) shot four over par with a two-day total of 157 to place third.

With their Bell Division top-4 finishes today, Curtis, Shah, Shears, and Cahill received invitations into the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. With their Futures Division top-3 finishes today, Floyd, DiNunzio, and Lance also received invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL. PKBGT returns to on action on Saturday-Sunday, September 27-28 with the Mid-Atlantic Fall Preview @ Draper Valley GC in Draper, VA.
