Recap: Culler wins One-Day Open at Green Valley

On Monday, June 23, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the One-Day Open Series at Green Valley Country Club. The course is a classic course located in the heart of Greenville and a great venue for this one-day tournament. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 18 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Division-Prep Series, Payton Culler (Hendersonville, NC 2014) shot 8 over par with a score of 80 to place first. Kate Hill (Clemson, SC 2016) and Taylor Lance (Travelers Rest, SC 2015) both shot 10 over par each with scores of 84 to tie for second.

In the Futures Division, Peyton Roach (Greenville, SC 2016) shot four over par with a score of 76 to place first. Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018) shot seven over par with a score of 79 to place second and Sydney White (Charlotte, NC 2015) shot 19 over par with a score of 91 to place third.

With their victories, Culler and Roach received a class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall.

PKBGT returns to action on Sunday, June 29 with the One-Day Open Series @ Sapona Ridge CC in Lexington, NC. The event brings together players from North Carolina and South Carolina.
