Recap: Wotnosky wins PGS JR GIRLS

On Friday, June 20, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the PGS JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP at Bryan Park Golf Course (Champions Course). Bryan Park, home to the University of North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans golf teams, was a fantastic venue for the fourth championship event of the season. The event features a field 36 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Division-Prep Series, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) shot even par with a score of 72 to place first with a two-day total of 147. Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) shot event par with a score of 72 to place second with a two-day total of 149 and Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) shot at two over par with a score of 74 to place third with a two-day total of 150.

In the Futures Division, Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016) shot seven over par with a score of 79 to place first with a two-day total of 166. Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) shot 10 over par with a score of 82 to place second with a two-day total of 170 and Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) shot 10 over par with a score of 82 to place third with a two-day total of 171.

With their victories, Wotnosky and Pritchett received a class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall. With their runner-up and third place finishes, Carson, Rice, Holland, and John all received class B exemptions into the Tournament of Champions.

PKBGT returns to action on Monday-Tuesday, June 23-24 with the Golfdotz Classic @ Green Spring Valley Hunt Club in Owings Mills, MD and Monday, June 23 with the One-Day Open Series @ Green Valley Country Club in Greenville, SC. Both will be excellent events.
