Preview: PGS JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP

On Thursday-Friday, June 19-20, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PGS JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP at Bryan Park Golf Course (Champions Course). Bryan Park, home to the University of North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans golf teams, is a fantastic venue for the fourth championship event of the season. The event features a field 36 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Division field features 23 golfers, highlighted by the 2013 defending champion, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016), who will be defending her title and eight of the top-75 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 3rd, Sarah Spicer ranked 4th, Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015) ranked 23rd, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) ranked 24th, Grace Yatawara (Salisbury, NC 2016) ranked 36th, Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015) ranked 43rd, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) ranked 49th, and Isabella Rusher (Salisbury, NC 2015) ranked 75th.

The Futures Division field features 13 golfers, highlighted by some of the top players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: KHannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018), Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020), Ellis Hunter (Greensboro, NC 2016), Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018), and Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016).

The PGS JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS brings together players from event brings together players from North Carolina and Virginia. It should be great tournaments!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
