Recap: Goodman wins Bulldog Classic

On Sunday, January 26, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Bulldog Classic @ University of Georgia GC. University of Georgia GC, home of the University of Georgia Bulldogs men’s and women’s golf teams and the 2013 Women’s NCAA National Championship, is a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field of 20 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Division, Savanah Goodman (Easley, SC 2016) shot six over par with a score of 78 to place first with a two-day total of 159. Janet Mao (Johns Creek, GA 2015) shot five over par with a score of 77 to place second with a two-day total of 160 and Juliana Sebastian (Columbia, SC 2014) shot two over par with a score of 74 to place third with a two-day total of 161.

In the Futures Division, Haley Grable (Bogart, GA 2016) shot 11 over par par with a score of 83 to place first with a two-day total of 162. Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) shot 10 over par with a score of 82 to place second with a two-day total of 170 and Kiana Jones (Columbia, SC 2016) shot 17 over par with a score of 89 to place third with a two-day total of 178.

With their victory’s, Goodman and Grable both received class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall. With their runner-up finishes, Mao and Wade both received class B exemptions into the Tournament of Champions.

PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Sunday, February 1-2 with the PKB Foundation Classic @ Mid Pines Inn & GC. The tournament brings together players from across Florida, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great tournament.
