Recap: Turk wins Bash at the Bay

On Sunday, June 15, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Bash at the Bay Classic at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club (Green Course). The course is host to multiple college events and is a great course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 24 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Division-Prep Series, Katie Turk (Blacksburg, VA 2015) shot nine over par with a score of 81 with a two-day total of 157 to place first. Emily Salamy (Williamsburg, VA 2015) shot five over par with a score of 77 with a two-day total of 161 to place second and Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018) shot nine over par with a score of 81 with a two-day total of 162 to place third.

The Futures Division, Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) shot eight over par with a score of 80 with a two-day total of 152 to place first. Ciaran Carlile (Evans, GA 2015) shot seven over par with a score of 79 with a two-day total of 160 to place second and Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) shot eight over par with a score of 82 with a two-day total of 162 to place third.

With their victory’s, Turk and DiNunzio both received class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall. With their runner-up finishes, Salamy and Carlile both received class C exemptions into the Tournament of Champions.

PKBGT returns to action on Thursday-Friday, June 19-20 with the PGS JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP @ Bryan Park Golf Course (Champions Course) in Greensboro, NC. The event is the fourth championship event of the season and brings together players from North Carolina and Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
