Preview: Pirate Classic at ECU

On Saturday-Saturday, June 7-8, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Pirate Classic at Greenville Country Club (Greenville Course). The course is home to the East Carolina University golf teams and is an excellent course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 38 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Division-Prep Series field features 22 golfers, highlighted by eight of the top-100 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) ranked 8th, Grace Yatawara (Salisbury, NC 2016) ranked 34th, Catherine Ashworth (Fuquay-Varina, NC 2015) ranked 41st, Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) ranked 61st, Killian Casson (Ellicott City, MD 2015) ranked 67th, Sydney Snodgrass (Harrisville, WV 2014) ranked 83rd, Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020) ranked 95th, and Haley Carr (Waldorf, MD 2015) ranked 100th.

The Futures Division field features 16 golfers, highlighted by five of the top-50 players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Jillian Preisach (Fuquay Varina, NC 2019) in 6th position, Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) in 11th position, Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) in 24th position, Alexandria Bare (Kannapolis, NC 2015) in 24th position, Kaitlyn Maready (Jacksonville, NC 2017) in 47th position, and Darby Bagshaw (Wilmington, NC 2016) in 50th position.

The Pirate Classic brings together players from event brings together players from Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. It should be a great tournament!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
