On Saturday-Saturday, May 3-4, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Carolina’s Classic at Carolina Trace Country Club (Lake Course). The Lake Course, host site of North Carolina’s 2014 US Women’s Open Qualifier, is a difficult course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 40 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Bell Division field features 20 golfers, highlighted by four of the top-100 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Elizabeth Bose (Norfolk, VA 2015) ranked 17th, Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) ranked 18th, Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014) ranked 35th, Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015) ranked 48th, Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015) ranked 71st, and Joliana Elias (Jamestown, NC 2015) ranked 96th.
The Futures Division field features 20 golfers, highlighted by six of the top-20 players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020) in 1st postion, Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) in 2nd position, Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018) in 3rd position, Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) in 6th position, Ellis Hunter (Greensboro, NC 2016) in 8th position, and Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, NC 2017) in 19th position.
The Carolina’s Classic brings together players from event brings together players from Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. It should be a great tournament!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
