Recap: Redding wins INVITATIONAL

On Monday, November 11, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). Host of the annual Bridgestone Golf Collegiate tournament, the 2012 NCAA DI Men’s regionals, and the 2011, 2014 & 2015 NCAA DIII Men’s National Championship, Grandover Resort is a challenging course for this three-day event. The event featured 51 players. The field is incredibly strong with 33 of the players ranked within the top-500 by Golfweek/Titliest Junior Rankings and 29 players ranked within the top-750 by the Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings. With its depth, this event will be the strongest field in PKB Tour history. Six major championship winners and 16 event winners from the 2013 season will be playing at the PKBGT INVITATIONAL.

Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) is golden!

Redding came from behind to shoot one under par with a score of 71 to place first with a three-day total of seven over par with 223. Diane Lim (Norcross, GA 2015) shot an outstanding three under par with a score of 69 to tie for second with a three-day total of eight over par with 224. Payton Schanen (Milton, GA 2015) shot four over par with a score of 74 to tie for second with a three-day total of eight over par with 224. Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) placed fourth with a three-day total of 12 over par with 228. Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) place fifth with a three-day total of 14 over par with 230 and Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) placed sixth with a three-day total of 15 over par with 231.

The PKB Tour will return to action in 2014. The 2014 schedule is posted online and registration will begin soon. 2014 to sure to be a record-breaking year.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2013, more than 200 alumni in the collegiate ranks, and 37 verbal committees in the class of 2014.
