Recap: Mitsunaga wins MASTERS

On Sunday, April 7, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the MASTERS at Salem Glen Golf & Country Club. The course was tough, but not too tough for the skilled PKB golfers. The event features a field of 81 players. The field is quite strong with 10 event champions from the 2013 season, 12 of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, 17 players ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard, and the defending 2012 PKBGT MASTERS champion.

Rinko Mitsunaga (Roswell, GA 2015) is golden!

In the Bell Division, Mitsunaga carded four over par with a score of 75 to place first with 74 + 75 = 149 and is the second player to be named golden in the 2013 season. Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) carded seven over par with a score of 78 to place second with 72 + 78 = 150. Allison Cooper (Harrisburg, PA 2015) carded five over par with a score of 76 to place third with 77 + 76 = 153.

In the Futures Division, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) surged from behind with a score of 73 to place first with 87 + 73 = 160. Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017) carded 11 over par with a score of 83 to place second with 79 + 83 = 162. Maria Cassas (Cary, NC 2015) carded 14 over par with a score of 85 to place third with 79 + 85 = 164.

PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Sunday, April 13-14 with the Wolfpack Classic @ Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. There will be three exemptions for the Callaway Junior World Qualifier in San Diego, CA given to the top finishers. The tournament brings together players from Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
