Update: Anderson & Capoccia lead at Richmond Classic

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour Richmond Classic concluded Day 1 of play with some stellar golf and some tired golfers.  Our new host course for the Richmond Classic, Providence Golf Club, surrendered numerous birdies as the girls completed round 1 of play and began play in round 2.

After the first 18 in the Bell Division, hometown girl Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, VA 2014) had the lead firing a 2-over par 73.  8 girls broke 80 and were within 5 of the lead.  In the Futures, Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018) fired a 3-over par 74 to take a 4-shot lead over two challengers.

After concluding Round 1, the girls took a short break and headed back to the course before play was suspended due to darkness.  At the stoppage, Anderson had stormed ahead, firing a blistering 4-under par 31 on the front nice to move to 2 under par for the tournament.  Entering day 2 action, she holds a 7 shot lead over Stephanie Bosdosh (Clarksburg, MD, 2013).  In the Futures, Lena Capoccia is clinging to a one-shot lead over the charging Maria Cassas (Cary, NC, 2015).  Maria is a continuing her strong play over the last month and a half on tour.  Four girls are within 5 shots of the lead setting the stage for an exciting finish in the Futures event.

Weather on Sunday looks wet with temperatures in the high 30s and low 40s.  Players are out early on the course to beat the worst of it!  Follow the action live at the scoreboard button below.
