Preview: Richmond Classic at Providence GC

On Saturday-Sunday, March 23-24, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Richmond Classic at Providence Golf Club. Providence Golf Club is a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 36 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.

The Bell Division field features 21 golfers, highlighted by two of the top 300 players nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, VA 2014) ranked 126th and Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) ranked 263rd. In addition, the field is highlighted two of the top 10 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit list, including: Allison Cooper (Harrisburg, PA 2015) in 10th position.

The Futures Division field features 15 golfers, highlighted by seven of the top 30 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Maria Cassas (Cary, NC 2015) in 4th position, Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016) in 14th position, Ashley Nguyen (South Riding, VA 2017) in 16th position, and Kelsey Kirkman (Chesapeake, VA 2015) in 26th position. In addition, two players in the field are ranked inside the top 100 for their class, including: Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018) ranked 60th, Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 94th, and Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) ranked 22nd.

The PKBGT would like welcome Kendel Abrams (New Freedom, PA 2018), Greer Clausen (Battle Creek, MI 2014), Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018), Eunbbie Kim (Potomac, MD 2015), and Sirena Walsh (Chantilly, VA 2016) who will be playing their first PKB event.

The Richmond Classic @ at Providence Golf Club brings together the top players from the Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and and Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
