On Saturday-Sunday, March 16-17, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Palmetto Classic at Cobblestone Park Golf Club at the University of South Carolina. Cobblestone Park Golf Club, home of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks golf teams, is a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 54 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
The Bell Division field features 42 golfers, highlighted by eight of the top 600 players nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Ashlii Thompson (Browns Summit, NC 2013), Nicole Chin (Irmo, SC 2014), and Anne Taylor Hough (Spartanburg, SC 2015). In addition, seven players in the field are ranked inside the top 100 for their class, including: Eunice Yi (Evans, GA 2013) ranked 65th, Riley Lovorn (Anderson, SC 2014) ranked 93rd, Natalie Srinivasan (Spartanburg, SC 2016) ranked 36th, Carly Burkhardt (Greenville, SC 2016) ranked 42nd, Savanah Goodman (Easley, SC 2016) ranked 62nd, Victoria Huskey (Greenville, SC 2016) ranked 81st, and Kristin Hearp (Salem, VA 2016) ranked 94th.
The Futures Division field features 12 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 40 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017) in 16th position, Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016) in 18th position, Felicia Finney (Blythewood, SC 2015) in 28th position, and CliRae Bourke (Blythewood, SC 2015) in 31st position.
The PKBGT would like welcome Jensen Castle (West Columbia, SC 2019), Abby Duggan (Waxhaw, NC 2016), Ann Elizabeth Gore (Lexington, SC 2015), Mary Grubbs (Lexington, SC 2015), Nathalie Lezcano (Hilton Head Island, SC 2014), Trisha Mukherjee (Marietta, GA 2015), Kylie Nizolek (Bluffton, SC 2014), and Kathleen Sumner (Charleston, SC 2017) who will be playing their first PKB event.
The Palmetto Classic @ at Cobblestone Park Golf Club at the University of South Carolina brings together the top players from the Carolinas, Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
