Preview: SC University Classic at Clemson

On Saturday-Sunday, March 2-3, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the SC University Classic at the Walker Course at Clemson University. The Walker Course, home of the Clemson University Tigers golf teams, is a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 57 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.

The Bell Division field features 42 golfers, highlighted by five of the top 600 players nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including Natalie Srinivasan (Spartanburg, SC 2016), Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015), Nicole Chin (Irmo, SC 2014), Anne Taylor Hough (Spartanburg, SC 2015), and Savanah Goodman (Easley, SC 2016).  In addition, five players in the field are ranked inside the Top 100 for their class highlighted by Natalie Srinivasan (Spartanburg, SC 2016) 38th, Savanah Goodman (Easley, SC 2016) 57th, Victoria Huskey (Greenville, SC 2016) 83th, Sarina Sonoda (Florence, SC 2016) 90th, and Naomi Mitchell (Norfolk, VA 2018) 18th.

The Futures Division field features 15 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 40 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) in 17th position, Madison Elliott (Little River, SC 2017) in 30th position, and Carley Cox (China Grove, NC 2015) and Tessa Young (Cornelius, NC 2014) tied in 36th position.

The PKBGT would like welcome Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018), Victoria Huskey (Greenville, SC 2016), Mary Joiner (Franklin, KY 2016), Courtney Vogel (Greer, SC 2016), and Sarah Voss (Walhalla, SC 2017) who will be playing their first PKB event.

The SC University Classic at The Walker Course at Clemson University brings together the top players from the Carolinas, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
