Preview: INVITATIONAL at Grandover

On Saturday-Monday, November 9-11, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). Host of the annual Bridgestone Golf Collegiate tournament, the 2012 NCAA DI Men’s regionals, and the 2011, 2014 & 2015 NCAA DIII Men’s National Championship, Grandover Resort is a challenging course for this three-day event. The event features 54 players. The field is incredibly strong with 35 of the players ranked within the top-500 by Golfweek/Titliest Junior Rankings and 29 players ranked within the top-750 by the Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings. With its depth, this event will be the strongest field in PKB Tour history. Six major championship winners and 16 event winners from the 2013 season will be playing at the PKBGT INVITATIONAL.

A few competitors to watch out for include: NC University Classic winner, runner-up at the PKBGT MASTERS, and ranked 122nd nationally, Emilia Miglaccio (Cary, NC 2017); third place finisher at the PKBGT PGS JR GIRLS and ranked 191st nationally, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018); runner-up at the PKBGT PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP and ranked 199nd nationally, Janet Mao (Johns Creek, GA, 2015); winner of the Wolfpack Classic and ranked 209th nationally, Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015); runner-up at the PKBGT TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS and ranked 214th nationally, Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC 2017); winner of the PKBGT PGS JR GIRLS and ranked 325th nationally, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016); winner of the PKBGT TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, runner-up at the PKBGT TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP, and ranked 337th nationally, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016); and winner of 4 Futures Division events in 2013, including the PKBGT MASTERS, and ranked 1311th nationally, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017).

The PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) brings together players from the Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. The tournament is a highly ranked event by Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, AJGA Performance Based Entry, and Junior Golf Scoreboard. Sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 60s are in the forecast for this weekend. It should be a great weather for the final event of 2013.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2013, more than 200 alumni in the collegiate ranks, and 37 verbal committees in the class of 2014.
