Recap: Curtis wins at JMU

On Sunday, October 6, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Mid-Atlantic Invitational Qualifier at Lakeview Golf Club. Lakeview, home to the James Madison University men’s and women’s golf teams is an beautiful course for this two-day fall qualifier tournament. The event features a field of 12 players. Although the field was small, the participants the participants fought valiantly for three coveted invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) in November.

Caroline Curtis (Glen Allen, VA 2019) carded five over par with a score of 77 to place first with 155. Siena Ferrick (Vienna, VA 2017) carded 10 over par with a score of 82 to place second with 162 and Johnna Parlett (Owings, MD 2019) carded 11 over par with a score of 83 to place third with 164.

With their top-three finishes, Curtis, Ferrick, and Parlett each receive an invitation to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). PKBGT returns to action on Saturday, November 2 with the Last Chance Invitational Qualifier at Beacon Ridge Golf Club in West End, NC. Beacon Ridge is a great course for the final Invitational Qualifier of the fall season. The tournament brings together players from across the southeast. It should be a great tournament.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
