Recap: Thiagaraj wins at Radford

On Sunday, September 29, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Central Invitational Qualifier at Draper Valley Golf Club. Draper Valley, home to the Radford University men’s and women’s golf teams, was a beautiful course for this two-day fall qualifier tournament. The event featured a field of 18 players. Although the field is small, the participants fought valiantly for five coveted invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) in November.

Khushboo Thiagaraj (Haymarket, VA 2014) carded four over par with a score of 76 to place first with 153. Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014) carded 10 over par with a score of 82 to place second with 158. Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015) carded three over par with a score of 74 to place third with 162. Kendall Taylor (McLean, VA 2014) carded nine over par with a score of 81 to place fourth with 164. Meagan Board (Roanoke, VA 2014) and Mary Catherine Ligon (Chester, SC 2014) both finished with two-day totals of 165 to tie for fifth place.

With their top-five finishes, Thiagaraj, the Collom sisters, Taylor, Board, and Ligon each receive an invitation to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Sunday, October 5-6 with the Mid-Atlantic Invitational Qualifier at Lakeview Golf Club (Peak/Lake Course) in Harrisonburg, VA. Lakeview GC, home of the James Madison University men’s and women’s golf teams, is a classic course for the second Invitational Qualifier of the fall season. The tournament brings together players from Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great tournament.
