On Saturday-Sunday, September 28-29, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Central Invitational Qualifier at Draper Valley Golf Club. Draper Valley, home to the Radford University men’s and women’s golf teams is an beautiful course for this two-day fall qualifier tournament. The event features a field of 18 players. Although the field is small, the participants will be vying for five coveted invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) in November.
The field features 18 girls from the 2013 PKB Tour. There are 3 girls in the field who are highly ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015), Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014), and Khushboo Thiagaraj (Haymarket, VA 2014). Also in the field are a few top-players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Kendra Dalton (Wake Forest, NC 2014), Meghan Holbrooks (Winston-Salem, NC 2014), and Annika Winebarger (State Road, NC 2014).
The Central Invitational Qualifier at Draper Valley Golf Club brings together players from Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Beautiful fall weather is in the forecast for this weekend. With sunny skies and temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s, it should be a great couple days for the first Invitational Qualifier of the season. The top-five finishers this weekend will each receive an invitation to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). The event brings together some of the best golfers on the East coast and in the Midwest. It is a highly ranked event by Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, AJGA Performance Based Entry, and Junior Golf Scoreboard. This event should not be missed!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
