Recap: Sebastian Wins Chanticleer Classic

On Sunday, Februry 3, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Chanticleer Classic @ Coastal Carolina University. The Hackler Course, home of the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers men’s and women’s golf teams, proved a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field of 46 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.

In the Bell Division, Juliana Sebastian (Columbia, SC 2014) carded five over par with a score of 77 to place first with 77 + 77 = 154. This is Sebastian’s first win on the PKB Tour. Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) carded five over par with a score of 77 to place second with 83 + 77 = 160. Ashley Sloup (Southport, NC 2014) carded 15 over par with a score of 87 to place third with 77 + 87 = 164.

In the Futures Division, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) carded 12 over par with a score of 84 to place first with 79 + 84 = 169. Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018) carded 13 over par with a score of 85 to place second with 84 + 85 = 169. Madison Elliott (Little River, SC 2017) carded 17 over par with a score of 891 to place third with 85 + 89 = 174.

PKBGT returns next weekend on Saturday-Sunday, February 9-10 with the Cape Fear Classic @ River Landing (River Course) in Wallace, NC. This is the third tournament of the 2013 season, bringing together players from across Carolinas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
