On Friday, July 26, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the One-Day Open Series at Bermuda Run Country Club (West Course). Bermuda Run is a great course for seventh one-day tournament of the 2013 season. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 54 players.
In the Bell Division, Ashlii Thompson (Brown Summit, NC 2013) even over par with a score of 71 to place first. Thompson has won this event back-to-back years in 2012 and 2013. Jessica Kittelberger (Raleigh, NC 2014) shot one over par with a score of 72 to place second. Abbey Hartsell (Hickory, NC 2015) and Joliana Elias (Jamestown, NC 2014) both shot two over with a scores of 73 to tie for third.
In the Futures Division, Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN 2019) shot one over par with a score of 72 to place first. Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) and Callista (Mars Hill, NC 2017) shot two over par with scores of 74 to tie for second. Nina Kouchi (Matthews, NC 2018) shot four over with scores of 76 to place fourth.
PKBGT would also like to congratulate Congrats to Faith Sronce (Hickory, NC 2014) on her hole-in-one on hole #4, a 110 yard par 3. This is Sronce’s second hole-in-one in her career and her first in a tournament.
With their victory’s today, Thompson and Montgomery both received exemptions into the sixth major tournament of the season, the Tournament of Champions which is being held at Moss Creek Country Club (North Course) in Hilton Head Island, SC in September.
PKBGT returns to action on Monday, August 5 with the One-Day Open Series at Chapel Hill Country Club. Chapel Hill is a classic course for seventh one-day tournament of the 2013 season. The tournament brings together players from across North Carolina. It should be a great tournament.
