Preview: One-Day Open at Rock Barn

On Friday, July 28, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the One-Day Open Series at Rock Barn Golf & Spa (Jackson Course). Rock Barn is home to the PGA Champions Tour Greater Hickory Kia Classic and the Jackson Course is a iconic course for fifth one-day tournament of the 2013 season. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field of 27 players.

In the Bell Division, the field features 7 golfers, highlighted by some of the top players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit list, including: Savanna Mackie (Greensboro, NC 2014) and Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016). Abbey Hartsell (Hickory, NC 2015), the 2012 Bell Division champion at this event, will be returning this year to defend her title. Bailey Jones (Davidson, NC 2014) and Samantha Vodry (Mooresville, NC 2016), stand-out golfers in the Futures Division, will be playing their first event in the Bell Division.

In the Futures Division, the field features 20 golfers, highlighted by some of the top players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Morgan Laird (Waxhaw, NC 2015), Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017), and Tessa Young (Cornelius, NC 2014). Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017), the 2012 Futures Division champion at this event, will be returning this year to defend her title.

The PKBGT would like welcome Natalie Cleveland (Huntersville, NC 2017), Madison Isaacson (Lexington, NC 2018), Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, NC 2017), Emy Pickens (Charlotte, NC 2016), and Mary Prunier (Denver, NC 2015) who will be playing their first PKB event this season.

The One-Day Open Series @ Rock Barn Golf & Spa (Jackson Course) brings together players from across North Carolina. Weather for Monday looks sunny with temperatures in the low 80s. It should be a great day for the fifth One-Day Open Series of the season!
