Preview: One-Day Open at Stoney Creek

On Monday, June 24, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the One-Day Open Series at Stoney Creek Golf Club. Stoney Creek, home to the Elon University men’s and women’s golf teams, is a tricky course for the fourth one-day tournament of the 2013 season. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field of 30 players.

In the Bell Division, the field features 9 golfers, highlighted by some of the top players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit list, including: Meghan Holbrooks (Winston-Salem, NC 2014) and Brittany Smith (Stanley, NC 2013). Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, NC 2016) and Aubrey Patti (Winston Salem, NC 2015), stand-out golfers in the Futures Division, will be playing their first event in the Bell Division.

In the Futures Division, the field features 21 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 20 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018), Susannah Ireland (Wake Forest, NC 2017), and Hailey Joy (Reidsville, NC 2018).

The PKBGT would like welcome Darby Bagshaw (Wilmington, NC 2016), Bryson Bowman (Summerfield, NC 2017), Brianna Bulgarino (Raleigh, NC 2015), and Nina Kouchi (Matthews, NC 2018) who will be playing their first PKB event this season.

The One-Day Open Series @ Stoney Creek Golf Club brings together players from North Carolina and Virginia. Weather for Monday looks sunny with temperatures in the 80s with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Despite the chance of inclement weather, it should be a great day for the fourth One-Day Open Series of the season!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
