Preview: PGS JR GIRLS at Forest Oaks

On Tuesday-Wednesday, July 2-3, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PKBGT PRECISION GOLF SCHOOL JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS at Forest Oaks Country Club. Forest Oaks, former home of the PGA Tour Greater Greensboro Open, is a distinguished course for the fourth major championship of the 2013 season. The field is quite strong with 15 event champions from the 2013 season, 8 of the top 600 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard in the Bell Division, 12 of the top 25 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists in the Futures Division, and defending 2012 PKBGT PRECISION GOLF SCHOOL JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS Bell Division champion.

The Bell Division field features 41 golfers, highlighted by 8 of the top 600 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: LLucia Polo (Greensboro, NC 2013) ranked 179th, Alaina Yeatts (Durham, NC 2014) ranked 414th, Amanda Hollandsworth (Floyd, VA 2014) ranked 470th, Ashlii Thompson (Brown Summit, NC 2013) ranked 498th, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 516th, and Hannah Craver (Winston-Salem, NC 2013) ranked 591st. There are seven event champions from the 2013 season, Allison Cooper (Harrisburg, PA 2015), winner of the Richmond Classic @ Providence GC; Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015), winner of the Wolfpack Classic @ Lonnie Poole GC at NC State University; Savannah Wood (Boone, NC 2014), winner of the One-Day Open Series @ Forest Oaks CC; Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016), winner of the Bash at the Bay Classic @ Kingsmill Resort (Woods Course); Chandler Danielson (Etowah, NC 2014), winner of the One-Day Open Series @ Green Valley CC; and Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018), Futures Division winner of the Chanticleer Classic @ The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University and the PKBGT PLAYERS @ Chateau Elan Resort (Chateau Course). Finally, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018), winner of the 2012 PKBGT PRECISION GOLF SCHOOL JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP @ Bryan Park GC, will be defending her title.

The Futures Division field features 25 golfers, highlighted by 12 of the top 25 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) in 2nd position, Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018) in 10th position, Susannah Ireland (Wake Forest, NC 2017) and Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, NC 2016) tied in 11th position, Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) in 15th position, Elizabeth Nguyen (Pinehurst, NC 2017) in 21st position, Sirena Walsh (Chantilly, VA 2016) in 22nd position, and Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN 2019) in 25th position. There are eight event champions from the 2013 season, including: Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017), winner of the Bulldog Classic @ University of Georgia GC, the NC University Classic @ The Finely GC at UNC-Chapel Hill, and the MASTERS @ Salem Glen Gold & CC; Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019), winner of the Wolfpack Classic @ Lonnie Poole GC at NC State University and the OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP @ CC of Salisbury; Samantha Vodry (Mooresville, NC 2016), winner of the Carolina’s Classic @ Carolina Trace CC (Lake Course) and the One-Day Open Series @ Green Valley CC; and Natalie Petersen (Holly Springs, NC 2017), winner of the One-Day Open Series @ Forest Oaks CC.

The PKBGT PRECISION GOLF SCHOOL JR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS at Forest Oaks Country Club brings together the players from players from Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event! Who will be golden?

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
