Preview: Bulldog Classic @ U. of Georgia

The 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour kicks off their spring season on Saturday-Sunday, January 26-27 at the Bulldog Classic @ University of Georgia GC. University of Georgia GC, home of the University of Georgia Bulldogs men’s and women’s golf teams and the 2013 Women’s NCAA National Championship, is a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 23 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.

The Bell Division field features 16 golfers, highlighted by three of the top 550 players nationally, including: Rinko Mitsunaga (Roswell, GA 2015) ranked 62nd, Janet Mao (Johns Creek, GA 2015) ranked 340th, and Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) ranked 517th. Elizabeth England (Oakland, TN 2014), Haley Helton (Mount Holly, NC 2014), and Mallory Sullivan (Smithville, TN 2014) will be playing their first PKB event.

The Futures Division field features 9 golfers, highlighted by two of the top 40 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) in 17th position, and Carley Cox (China Grove, NC 2015) in 36th position. Ayanna Habeel (Decatur, GA 2019), Mckenzie Hedrick (Bishop, GA 2015), and Caitriona MacIver (Hickory, NC 2015) will be playing their first PKB event.

The Bulldog Classic @ University of Georgia GC brings together the top players from the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event to kick off the 2013 season!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
