Preview: Bash at the Bay Classic at Kingsmill

On Saturday-Sunday, June 15-16, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Bash at the Bay Classic at Kingsmill Resort (Woods Course). The resort is home of the LPGA Kingsmill Championship and the Woods Course is a difficult course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 44 players. The field is strong with 14 players ranked inside the top 30 in their state by Junior Golf Scoreboard and 17 of the top 40 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists.

The Bell Division field features 19 golfers, highlighted by two of the top 40 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Allison Cooper (Harrisburg, PA 2015) in 10th position and Juliana Sebastian (Columbia, SC 2014) in 37th position. 11 Bell Division players are ranked inside the top 30 in their state by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Khushboo Thiagaraj (Haymarket, VA 2014) ranked 9th, Naomi Mitchell (Norfolk, VA 2018) ranked 11th, Graysen Bright (Rockville, MD 2015) ranked 12th, Joey Mae Walz (Pittsburgh, PA 2015) ranked 13th, Caroline Cahill (Wilmington, NC 2017) ranked 14th, Emily Salamy (Williamsburg, VA 2015) ranked 15th, Amber Liu (Vienna, VA 2016) ranked 16th, Christina Herbert (Williamsburg, VA 2014) ranked 18th, Kendall Taylor (McLean, VA 2014) ranked 22nd, and Erin Drolet (Alexandria, VA 2014) ranked 24th.

The Futures Division field features 25 golfers, highlighted by 15 of the top 40 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) ranked 3rd, Susannah Ireland (Wake Forest, NC 2017) ranked 17th, Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 18th, Ashley Nguyen (South Riding, VA 2017) ranked 21st, Morgan Wirtz (White Hall, MD 2014) ranked 22nd, Sirena Walsh (Chantilly, VA 2016) ranked 25th, Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016) ranked 27th, Reilly Thomas (Cary, NC 2017) ranked 31st, Natalie Petersen (Holly Springs, NC 2017) ranked 32nd, Tessa Young (Cornelius, NC 2014) ranked 33rd, and Kelly Salamy (Williamsburg, VA 2020), Josephine Jung (Ellicott City, MD 2016) and Amanda Petersen (Laurel, MD 2015) all ranked 35th. Three Futures Division players are ranked inside the top 30 in their state by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Eunbbie Kim (Potomac, MD 2015) ranked 13th, Krystal Sung (Derwood, MD 2016) ranked 15th, and Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018) ranked 26th.

The Bash at the Bay Classic @ Kingsmill Resort (Woods Course) brings together players from Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. Weather for the weekend looks sunny with temperatures in the 80s and 90s. Should be a great weekend for the Bash at the Bay Classic!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
