Preview: Wildcat Classic at U of Kentucky

On Saturday-Sunday, May 4-5, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Wildcat Classic at the University Club of Kentucky (Wildcat Course). The Wildcat Course, home of the University of Kentucky Wildcats men’s and women’s golf teams, is one the two courses the college plays and is a tricky course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 10 players. Despite the tournament being a small, the field is strong with seven players ranked inside the top 50 for their state by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

The Bell Division field features 10 golfers, highlighted by seven players ranked inside the top 50 for their state by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Adeena Shears (Elizabeth, WV 2016) ranked 2nd, Molly Skapik (Miamisburg, OH 2014) ranked 11th, Ali Nageotte (Westlake, OH 2014) ranked 15th, Tristyn Nowlin (Richmond, KY 2016) ranked 30th, Leslie Ginter (Lexington, KY 2016) ranked 38th, Mariana Erana (Dublin, OH 2017) ranked 42nd, and Melanie Burgess (LaSalle, Ontario, Canada 2016) ranked 43rd

The Wildcat Classic at the University Club of Kentucky (Wildcat Course) brings together players from Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, and even Ontario, Canada. Weather for the weekend looks rainy with temperatures in the 60s. Despite the weather, it should still be a great tournament! The winner of this weekend’s tournament will receive a special exemption into our sixth major tournament of the season, the Tournament of Champions, which is being held at Moss Creek Country Club (North Course) in Hilton Head Island, SC in September.
