On Saturday-Sunday, April 27-28, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Paladin Classic at Furman University Golf Club. Furman University Golf Club, home of the Furman University Paladin men’s and women’s golf teams, is a classic course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 76 players. The field is strong with nine of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard and 18 players ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.
The Bell Division field features 49 golfers, highlighted by nine of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Eunice Yi (Evans, GA 2013) ranked 168th, Haylee Harford (Leavittsburg, OH 2015) ranked 229, Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC 2017) ranked 237th, Riley Lovorn (Anderson, SC 2014) ranked 291st, Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) ranked 307th, Janet Mao (Johns Creek, GA 2015) ranked 336th, Natalie Srinivasan (Spartanburg, SC 2016) ranked 354th, Payton Schanen (Kennesaw, GA 2015) ranked 415th, and Carly Burkhardt (Greenville, SC 2016) ranked 490th. 17 Bell Division players are ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Amanda Doherty (Atlanta, GA 2016) ranked 13th, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 56th, Kayley Marschke (Suwanee, GA 2016) ranked 62nd, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 65th, Victoria Huskey (Greenville, SC 2016) ranked 83th, Savanah Goodman (Easley, SC 2016) ranked 86th, Sarina Sonoda (Florence, SC 2016) ranked 93rd, and Lauren Lightfritz (Suwanee, GA 2016) ranked 96th.
The Futures Division field features 27 golfers, highlighted by eight of the top 40 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Callist Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) in 1st position, Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) in 5th position, Mckenzie Hedrick (Bishop, GA 2015) in 9th position, Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018) in 20th position, Aubrey Patti (Winston Salem, NC 2015) in 22nd, Morgan Laird (Waxhaw, NC 2015) in 36th position, Tessa Young (Cornelius, NC 2014) in 38th position, and Jensen Castle (West Columbia, SC 2019) in 39th position. Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN 2019) is ranked inside the top 100 for her class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.
The Paladin Classic @ Furman University Golf Club brings together players from Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Weather for the weekend looks rainy with temperatures in the 60s. Despite the weather, with such a strong field, it should still be a great tournament!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
