Recap: Brooks wins Terrapin Classic

On Sunday, April 21, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Terrapin Classic at University of Maryland Golf Course. University of Maryland Golf Course, home of the University of Maryland Terrapins men’s and women’s golf teams, is a classic course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 51 players, with three of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard and seven players ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

In the Bell Division, Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) carded four over par with a score of 75 to place first with 71 + 75 = 146. Bryana Nguyen (Columbia, MD 2014) carded two over par with a score of 73 to place second with 75 + 73 = 148 and Rachel Lee (Woodstock, MD 2014) carded two over par with a score of 73 to place third with 76 + 73 = 149.

In the Futures Division, Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018) carded six over par with a score of 77 to place first with 80 + 77 = 157. Sydney Mills (Severna Park, MD 2016) carded 12 over par with a score of 83 to place second with 77 + 83 = 160 and Morgan Wirtz (White Hall, MD 2014) carded nine over par with a score of 80 to place third with 81 + 80 = 161.

PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Sunday, April 27-28 with the Paladin Classic @ Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, SC. The tournament brings together players from Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
