Preview: Wolfpack Classic at NC State

On Saturday-Sunday, April 13-14, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Wolfpack Classic at Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University. Lonnie Poole Golf Course, home of the NC State University Wolfpack men’s and women’s golf teams, is a tricky course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 73 players. The field is strong with eight of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard and 17 players ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

The Bell Division field features 46 golfers, highlighted by eight of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC 2017) ranked 232nd, Amanda Hollandsworth (Floyd, VA 2014) ranked 295th, Cecily Overbey (High Point, NC 2014) ranked 276th, Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) ranked 310th, Catherine Ashworth (Fuquay-Varina, NC 2015) rankeed 380th, Annika Bovender (Mt Pleasant, SC 2015) ranked 429th, Sabrina Long (Alpharetta, GA 2015) ranked 456th, and Jordan McKelvin (Westminster, MD 2015) ranked 492nd. 14 Bell Division players are ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) ranked 9th, Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) ranked 25th, Kayla Ward (Raleigh, NC 2018) ranked 39th, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 53rd, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 59th, Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) ranked 66th, and Sarina Sonoda (Florence, SC 2016) ranked 88th.

The Futures Division field features 27 golfers, highlighted by nine of the top 25 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, NC 2016) in 10th position, Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016) in 12th position, Susannah Ireland (Wake Forest, NC 2017) in 17th position, Aubrey Patti (Winston Salem, NC 2015) in 19th position, Casey Burroughs (Wake Forest, NC 2016) in 20th position, Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018) in 21st position, and Elizabeth Nguyen (Pinehurst, NC 2017) in 22nd position. Three Futures Division players are ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) ranked 20th, Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) ranked 37th, and Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 90th.

The Wolfpack Classic @ Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University brings together players from Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. There will be three exemptions for the Callaway Junior World Qualifier in San Diego, CA given to the top finishers.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
