Preview: Middle Atlantic One-Day @ Kenwood CC

On Saturday, September 16, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour will play the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Kenwood G&CC. One-day tournaments are University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The tournament features a field of 52 players and includes the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.

Featured in the Prep Series are Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021), Katie Park (Farifax, VA 2022), and Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020). Hankim is currently ranked 3rd in the Prep Order of Merit – MA, and has finished top-5 in her last six Middle Atlantic One-Day Series events. Park is currently ranked 16th in the Prep Order of Merit – MA, and has finished top-5 in eight PKBGT events this season. Jonely is currently ranked T4 in the Prep Order of Merit – MA, and finished in 1st place last weekend at the MA One-Day Series at Bowling Green CC (South). They look to continue their success this weekend at Kenwood G&CC in Bethesda, MD.

The top-5 finishers in the Prep Middle Atlantic Order of Merit will receive an invitation to the 2017 PKBGT Invitational at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC. The tournament is a signature event of the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Tour each November.

Featured in the Futures Series are Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020), Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022), and Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022). Chen is currently ranked 3rd in the Futures Order of Merit – MA and has finished top-5 in five different PKBGT events this season. Shin is currently ranked 2nd in the Futures Order of Merit – MA and has finished top-3 in seven different PKBGT events this season. Lee is currently ranked 1st in the Futures Order of Merit – MA and has eight top-5 finishes in different PKBGT events this season. They look to continue their success this weekend at Kenwood G&CC in Bethesda, MD.

Awards will be presented to the top-4 finishers in the Prep and Futures Series. The Champions of the Prep and Futures Series will also earn Class A status and an invitation to the 2017 PKBGT Tournament of Champions.

Featured in the Discovery Series are 16 players from Virginia, Maryland, and DC. This is our largest Discovery Series field of the year. Awards will be presented to the top-4 finishers in the Discovery Series.

Recap: A. Wang, Shin, Nguyen Victorious at Middle Atlantic One-Day @ Kenwood CC

On Saturday, September 16, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Kenwood G&CC in Bethesda, MD. One-day tournaments are University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The tournament featured a field of 55 players and included the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.

Playoff!! Winning the Prep Series was Alyssa Wang (Rockville, MD 2021) after going into a sudden death playoff against Carson Jenkins (Raleigh, NC 2019). Both Wang and Jenkins finished the day with a score of 5 over par, 76. Just one shot back, finishing in third place, was Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021) with a score of 77. Coming in fourth place was Kayleigh Zeman (Silver Spring, MD 2020) with a score of 79. Taking fifth place was Michelle Cabotaje (Fort Washington, MD) finishing the day with an 80.

Winning the Futures Series was Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022) finishing the day at 4 over par, 75. Three players tied for second place, Rebecca Schiffman (Chevy Chase, MD 2020), Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022), and Jennifer Sorkin (Westminster, MD 2022) all just one stroke behind the leader, finishing the day with a score of 76. Finishing in fifth place was Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020) with a score of 77.

Winning the Discovery Series was Josephine Nguyen (Springfield, VA 2024) with her impressive score of 2-under par, 33. The Runner-up of the Discovery Series was Amelia Cho (Ashburn, VA 2024) who finished just 4 shots back with a score of 37. Finishing in third place was Kanchana Duangsam (Haymarket, VA 2026) with a score of 40. There was a three way tie for fourth place between Katie Patterson (Washington, DC 2023), Emily Wang (McIean, VA 2024), and Sarah Wang (McIean, VA 2025) all shooting a final score of 41.

Recap: Smith, Dowell are Champions at North Carolina Series Finale @ Statesville CC

On Sunday, September 17, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played final round of the NC Series Finale at Statesville CC. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 56 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series was Kayla Smith (Burlington, NC 2019) after following up her 4 under round yesterday with an even par round today ending with a two day total of 4-under, 140. Smith’s win was highlighted by 2 eagles and 7 birdies over the past two days. Finishing in a tie for second place was Madison Isaacson (Greensboro, NC 2018) and Taylor Miano (Dobbs Ferry, NY 2020) both finishing the tournament at 4-over par total, 148. Just 2 strokes behind them in a tie for fourth place was Alexia Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2022) and Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, NC 2019) bothwith a two-day total of 75-75-150.

In the Futures Series, Kayla Dowell (Mebane, NC 2021) claimed 1st place, finishing the weekend with a two-day total of 77-76-153. Finishing in 2nd place, with a scores of 77-78-155 was  Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022). In a tie for 3rd place was Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023) and Katelyn  Kenthack (Pinehurst, NC 2020)both finished with a two day total of 162. Finishing in a tie for 5th place was Lauren Denhard (Salisbury, NC 2020) and Laney Wessels (Sophia, NC 2021) both with a two day total of 163

Update: Round 1 North Carolina Series Finale @ Statesville CC

On Saturday, September 16, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the North Carolina Series Finale at Statesville CC in Statesville, NC.  This event wraps up the NC One-Day Series Events of the 2017 season.

Leading the Prep Series after firing an impressive first round score of 4-under par, 68, was Kayla Smith (Burlington, NC 2019). Sitting 4 shots back in second place is Ryann Sinclair (Mooresville, NC 2019) after a first round score of even par, 72. Currently, there is a two-way tie for third place. Taylor Miano (Dobbs Ferry, NY 2020) and Caroline Crumrine (Wilmington, NC 2020) both finished the day at 2-over par, 74.

In the Futures Series, there is currently a two-way tie for first place. Kayla Dowell (Mebane, NC 2021) and Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022) both finished the day with a first round score of 77, leading the Futures Series by 4 strokes. Currently tied for third place are Amber Capote (Waxhaw, NC 2020) and Lauren Denhard (Salisbury, NC 2019). Both ended the day with a first round total of 81. Sitting in fifth place after round one is Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023) finishing the day at 82.

It will be an exciting finish on Sunday!

The Discovery Series played a one-day, 18-hole event. Winning the Discovery Series was Ellen Yu (High Point, NC 2025) who finished the day at 5 over par, 77. Runner-up in the Discovery Series was Gracie Song (Waxhaw, NC 2026) who finished the day with a score of 84. Taking third place was Madison Dial (High Point, NC 2025) who finished the day at 88.

Charleigh is currently ranked 3rd in the Prep Order of Merit – NC and has 6 top-10 finishes with the PKBGT this season. Recap: Jonely, Waclawski, Nguyen Win MA One-Day Series @ Bowling Green CC (South)

On Saturday, September 9, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Bowling Green CC (South) in Front Royal, VA. One-day tournaments are University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The tournament featured a field of 29 players and included the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.

Winning the Prep Series was Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020). Hannah finished the day with a score of 7 over par, 77. Just 1 shot back, finishing in second place, and winning the scorecard playoff was Cassie Robinson (Emporia, VA 2019) with a score of 78. Coming in third place was Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, VA 2020) with a score of 78. Taking 4th place was Ester Choi (Midlothian, VA 2021) finishing the day at 83.

Winning the Futures Series was Katelynn Waclawski (Vienna, VA 2022) finishing the day at 8 over par, 78. Four players finished the day at 80, and a scorecard playoff determined the winners. Runner-up was Lauren Sims (Front Royal, VA 2019), just 2 strokes behind the leader, shooting 80. Finishing in third place was Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020) with a score of 80.  Sydney Hackett (Ashburn, VA 2022) finished in fourth place also with a score of 80.

Winning the Discovery Series was Josephine Nguyen (Springfield, VA 2024) with her impressive score of 2-over par, 37. The Runner-up of the Discovery Series was Emily Wang (McLean, VA 2024) who finished just 4 shots back with a score of 41.

Recap: McDonald, Logan Win Southeast Series Finale @ Cobbs Glen CC

On Sunday, August 26-27, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played final round of the Southeast Series Finale @ Cobbs Glen CC. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 19 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series was Anna McDonald (Hickory, NC 2019), with a two-day total of 76-76-152. Kelley Topiwala (Matthews, NC 2020) took second place, finishing the weekend with 82-82-164 Just 2 strokes behind them was Chloe Holder (Willianston, SC 2021), taking 3rd place, with a two-day total of 81-85-166. Taking 4th place was Katelyn Lee (Easley, SC 2020) finishing the weekend at 80-90-170.

In the Futures Series, Madison Logan (Brasstown, NC 2022) claimed 1st place, finishing the weekend with a two-day total of 79-81-160. Finishing in 2nd place, with a scores of 87-81-168 was Abby Franks (Roebuck, SC 2023). Mattie Padgett (Seneca, Sc 2023) finished with scores of 91-87-178, finishing the day in 3rd place. Taking 4th place was Lilian Alexander (Duncan, SC 2024) finishing the weekend at 95-91-186.

On Saturday, August 26, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at The Hollows GC (Cottage/Lake). One-day tournaments are University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The tournament featured a field of 24 players and included the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.

Winning the Prep Series was Tatum Walsh (Midlothian, VA 2021). Tataum finished the day with a score of 4 over par, 75. Just three shots back, finishing in second place was Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, VA 2020) with a score of 78. There was a tie for third place and a scorecard playoff determined the winner. Coming in third place was Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021) with a score of 79, and taking 4th place was Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023) also finishing the day at 79.

Winning the Futures Series was Alice Zou (Potomac, MD 2022) finishing the day at 4 over par, 75. Runner-up was Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022), just 2 strokes behind the leader, shooting 77. Finishing in third place was Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022) with a score of 82. There was a three-way tie for fourth place. Winning the scorecard playoff was D’yan Robinson (Richmond, VA 2022) with a birdie on hole 18, finishing in fourth place with a score of 83.

Winning the Discovery Series was Josephine Nguyen (Springfield, VA 2024) with her impressive score of one-under par, 35. The Runner-up of the Discovery Series was Emily Wang (Mclean, VA 2024) who finished just one shot back with a score of even par, 36.

Congratulations to all the top finishers this weekend! The PKBGT is back in action September 9, 2017 for the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series @ Bowling Green CC (South). There is still time to register!

The PKBGT has partnered with the Middle Atlantic PGA and will host events in Virginia and Maryland.  The series will feature three divisions: Prep, Futures, and Discovery.  On the day of each of the Middle Atlantic Series events, players are welcome to attend our “Introduction to Tournament Golf” workshops.  The workshops are designed to promote and increase participation among middle and high school age developmental female golfers.  Topics covered at the workshops will include learning to become comfortable playing competitive golf, learning basic rules of golf, and building confidence on the course.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Recap: Smith, Daffin, and Ridenour Wins NC One-Day Series @ Pinehurst No. 9

On Saturday, August 26, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the North Carolina One-Day Series at Pinehurst No. 9The goal of the One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The goal of the One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 65 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series by 4 shots was Kayla Smith (Burlington, NC 2019) after posting a score of 75 for the day. Finishing in second place with a score of 79 was Alexia Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2022). Finishing in a tie for third place was Jaclyn Kenzel (Southern Pines, NC 2020) and Nina Kouchi (Matthews, NC 2018) both with a score of 80.

The Champion of the Futures Series was McKenzie Daffin (Fort Bragg, NC 2021) after firing a round of 78. Only 4 strokes behind, finishing in a tie for second was Grayson Warren (Washington, NC 2021) and Katelyn Kenthack (Pinehurst, NC 2020) both with a score of 82. Finishing in fourth place was Kayla Dowell (Mebane, NC 2021) with a score of 83.

The Champion of the Discovery Series was Grace Ridenour (Cary, NC 2025), with a stellar nine hole score of even par, 36. Discovery Series runner-up was Ellen Yu (High Point, NC 2025), finishing the day with a nine hole score of 44. Finishing in third place in the Discovery Series was Sanaa Carter (Jacksonville, NC 2026).

Our next NC One-Day Series event is the North Carolina Series Finale @ Statesville CC in Statesville, NC, September 16-17, 2017. There is still time to register!
